Moroccan Patterns - For the love of art

Writer's picture: Iram S. AhmadIram S. Ahmad

I am in love with Moroccan Patterns. Their aesthetic beauty, their structure, their variety and versatility in design, and their overall calming effect! What's not to love?

“Visiting Morocco and exploring the different tile patterns has always been a dream, which I hope, comes true!”

I am sharing a few examples of how I include them in my art and design.

Mood Board in my Creative Journal

A mood board with my favourite images of Moroccan Patterns, along with a sketch and a beautiful wood carving I found at Global Village!

These are some of the prints I designed. This shows the variety in terms of shapes included in Moroccan Patterns. I love that fact that there is a mix of geometric, straight, angular, curved and intricate shapes - all in harmony with one another!

Some Patterns on my Grid, and in a fashion sketch from university

The little wood carving I am obsessed with!

I went for a Moroccan Inspired theme in my March Bullet Journal, and combined some straight geometrics with curves. Loving the juxtaposition!

My February theme was also Moroccan Inspired, but I used a stencil in this beautiful symmetrical repeat pattern.
